INFORMATION FROM THE BOYLE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY - PLEASE READ

Hello Mrs. Woolcott,

A few days ago I spoke with you about promoting some of the digital resources we have available for students. I have attached a few flyers describing some of these services. We would like to showcase a few of these, which can be accessed via the Databases section of our website:

Tutor.com: Tutor provides one-on-one tutoring services online, in over forty subjects, 2 PM - 11 PM, every day. A 24/7 Writing Center document "drop-off" is available for critiquing work. Tutor recently acquired The Princeton Review, and offers ACT/SAT prep (practice tests, score tracking, study material suggestions). Further, they offer career/resume assistance. Requires a library card for offsite access.

Mango Languages: Tutorials in 72+ languages, available 24/7 via computer access or mobile app. Pronunciation practice available, where students speak words or phrases and overlay/compare them with a tutorial recording. Includes a selection of movies with subtitles, and the option to have contextual and cultural information provided, scene by scene. Requires a library card for offsite access.

Biblioboard: Digital research material on a variety of topics; curated, multimedia collections of open source or public domain material; and the library's own archival material, digitized (with the potential for expansion with student works). Requires a library card for offsite access.

Kentucky Virtual Library: Access to numerous research databases via EBSCOhost and Proquest. A lot of material is available immediately, full text - some items are merely indexed in this location. Requires a username and password for offsite access - obtainable at the BCPL Circulation Desk.

These just name a handful of resources we provide at no cost to students and parents. We hope that you and members of LIGHT will find them useful, and we would be more than happy to offer demonstrations or answer any questions you may have - and cover even more of what the library has to offer.

Thank you,
